The Dog Days are Over

Hi there! Welcome to my first post on my very own music blog, Rachel's Records. I thought I would take my first post as an opportunity to write about why I decided to create this blog, and what you might expect from me.

If I were to tell you off the top of my head why I wanted to make this blog, I would probably say that the way I talk about music is unique. Now I am in no way saying that I am a music expert, because I definitely know I could learn way more, but I found that the way I expressed myself about certain songs or shows weren't really things people wanted to talk about in everyday conversation, and I get that. I like my day-to-day conversations as much as the next person does about the things happening in the news, pop culture or whatever, but I just sometimes want to talk about music for hours until I've run out of things to say. So that's why I'm here, and maybe that's why you're here, too. If you're reading this, you might be feeling the same way; You've had this really amazing song, completely undiscovered, stuck in your head for three days and all you want to do is talk about how the drum patterns are amazing, the guitar work is flawless and so are the vocals, and no one wants to listen. I'm here for you, and I want to talk about it in hopes that others will listen.

There is just something so emotional about a great song that understands exactly how you feel in your exact moment, or when you hear a particular song that transports you to the very first moment you realized it meant something to you, and you suddenly feel a rush of emotions tied to that song you never thought you had. It might be one of the best feelings in the whole world. Music has so much power to change your life, to help you learn and understand and really find out who you are, so I hope telling you about what my experiences are and what I listen to might help you find your perfect melody (I'm also a stickler for music related metaphors, so please also expect that from me).

Before I finish off this post, I also thought it might be beneficial for you to know about who you're reading about. My name is Rachel, obviously, and I'm about to start my freshman year of college in the fall. I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area, so all of the concerts and shows I attend and review are in my area, unless I happen to be in town elsewhere. Some of my favorite artists range in genre, like Florence + the Machine, Panic! at the Disco, Sara Bareilles, 5 Seconds of Summer, Saint Motel... I could go on with more, and of course, you can't go wrong with some classics like The Beatles, Carole King, Frank Sinatra or Fleetwood Mac. And let us certainly not forget that I fully enjoy a great Broadway show, some of my absolute favorites being Waitress, Pippin, and Wicked. As I hope you'll stay for more blog posts, you'll get to learn more about said favorite bands and shows, and why I like them so much. Now you're in luck, because the dog days are over, and I am here to make all your music blog dreams come true, and maybe make your days ahead just a little bit better. Thanks for visiting the record shop today, I hope you stop by and I see you again! x
