It's Saturday Night: 'Pray for the Wicked' Tour by Panic! at the Disco

So, I fell through a chair trying to touch Brendon Urie's hand. I'll tell you that was one of the highlights while at the 'Pray for the Wicked' Tour at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

I thought for sure I would not want to go because I've seen Panic! twice already, but I cracked and my dad bought me last minute tickets (that were FLOOR seats, I nearly cried) for my mom and I. It would be my last hurrah before going to college the next week, so there's no better way to celebrate than seeing one of your favorite bands.

We ended up going a little a later than usual, and got to the show just in time for Hayley Kiyoko. Not 100% sure if we just missed Arizona, or they weren't there, but either way we were late, and were hunting down the merch tables all before Hayley Kiyoko. Hayley was a treat! I'm not really a fan of her music/I've never really listened to it, but she was really entertaining, and she looked like she was having the time of her life up there. Watching her bust some pretty great moves, wave around a pride flag, and play some sick beats made me really happy for her. She's come a long since Disney Channel. And shortly after this, she won a Moon Man at the VMAs! She is really thriving as an artist and I think that's super cool, so it was great to have her opening at Panic!'s show.

As a whole, Panic! at the Disco gives you a SHOW. If you want to be entertained, you came to the right place! Every time I've gone to a Panic! concert, I have such a great time because Brendon Urie was born to perform. His style and energy graces the stage the minute he steps on and he entertains his crowd like nobody's business. Plus, his band and mini-orchestra were fantastic, and every single one of them adds such personality to the show.

At the past few Panic! shows I've been to, there's been a countdown during the show right before Panic! starts, but this time along with the countdown, Brendon Urie literally popped out from the stage! I wish I would've gotten it on video because it was so unexpected, but I liked it. He has such an amazing stage presence, I just can't stress that enough. His range, his dancing, and energy - there's simply no comparison.

He played a good mix of the new albums and some of the past ones where it was really just him in the band, and there was not much from the older albums like A Fever You Can't Sweat Out or Pretty.Odd. - which I guess as a solo artist now, you want to play the music you've written!

Some wild antics during the show, which I would say are typical at a Panic! at the Disco concert nowadays, were Brendon Urie was walking through the crowd (this is where I fell through a chair trying to touch him because I had missed my chance two times before), Brendon playing a piano up in the air, and doing backflips. And of course, Panic! fans rallied together as they have the last few shows to create a beautiful rainbow We also see a showcase of all the musical talent Brendon has to offer - singing (of course), piano, guitar, and drum solos. It's insane that one man can have all that talent!

It's just truly amazing to see an alternative artist like Panic! to still thrive in a time where it seems like no one wants to listen to alternative music, but you'd be surprised. There are such a vast amount of people there and it's fun to get to bond over your love of Panic!, whether it's been for 13 years or five.

I would 100% recommend seeing Panic! at the Disco, no matter what kind of music you like because they can appeal to anyone. They can play rock, pop, alternative and punk, and they truly define what it means to be an entertainer. You don't want to miss the amazing show Panic! at the Disco has to offer! Currently, if you're in the Texas area, they have a show coming up in Austin in February, and they have a whole other leg of the North American Tour coming next year! Trust me, you don't want to miss this!

Please note that I started writing this before guitarist Kenneth Harris was dismissed from Panic!, but I still think he added to the performance, and I figured I would add a little note that I acknowledge that situation and am not simply ignoring it. And I also recognize this post is way out of date! And my next few will probably be out of date, too. Until then, thanks for stopping by Rachel’s Records, hope to see you again sometime! x
